He is uniquely certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurocritical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Maki has been recognized for his dedication to medical education, receiving the Educational Teaching Award from the Internal Medicine program at Creighton University from 2018 to 2022.
